A Pertinent Question
When Person A says to Person B: ‘I don’t like him as much as you do!’ – does it mean that:
a. Person B likes him but Person A doesn’t, or
b. Both Persons A and B dislike him?
An innocent question indeed. Popped out of my head when I was doing laundry today. I’d go with the first answer but the second one occurred to me as well. Hence, the dilemma.
(I can already hear the screaming of ‘NELLYN, YOU BAKA, STOP THINKING OF STUPID THINGS LIKE THIS’ - probably from Smee)
In other news, H.P Lovecraft is really inspirational. I feel the urge to write something because of his works. I can see why he’s the ‘baroque prince’ as Stephen King puts it, now. So far the stories that I’ve liked have been few – The Rats in the Walls, Cool Air and some others but yes – Lovecraft is rather good. In a creepy, hair-standing, prickly sort of way. It’s good.
I wonder what Edgar Allen Poe would do to me.
