Blogging About: MEGACAMP
Let’s see. It started on Friday at 4pm. I went home, bathed, packed my stuff, panicked a little then left the house with a big duffel bag, ready to face the Dangers of MegaCamp!
Then I came back for my sleeping bag.
So, then I went to school. Hustled down to the Emmanuel hall after meeting Rachel Hmar, Qian Ru and Melissa. Left our bags there and then sat in the Emmanuel hall, freezing my legs, butts and everything else off. Met Sheena and then we met uncle Senath (sic) the Chief Camp instructor. He is damn lame and funny and talked about the few times he had camps with us. For example he said that the guy instructors weren’t allowed to bathe until all the girls had done. And the first time he did camp with our school… the guy instructors bathed at…2am!
Instructors: Zuby, Yi Zhang (One Piece!), Melvin, Shirley, Kelvin, Rachel, Yvonne, Rayyan, Sherman, Kee Long. Yeah, ten instructors.
So my group wa the group of ORANGE COLOUR-NESS. Each team gets the respective colour band of their group colour. We got SPASTIC ORANGE!! Nic got green and Elizabeth got red. In the course of the camp, we made names for ourselves like…
Red = Eagles (they have this cool pose) (1)
Blue = Peace (think act cute people) (2)
Yellow = Starfish (half jumping jack) (3)
Green = Seaweed (obviously.) (5)
Orange = Faithful (we pray. A lot.) (4)
So we got Zuby and Yi Zhang. We then went off to play ice breakers like the blanket game and double wacko. Haha
We went back where the Senath-man talked some more and we got hustled to our rooms and everything. Then we went for dinner and stuff. Or something. We then signed up for our respective sessions. I chose communications, nic chose communications (we have to learn to COMMUNICATE with MR CHIA!) and so did Ah Liew! :D
Zuby conducted the session and we learnt a pretty bit. Oh yeah, we bullied Yi Zhang by making him do the duck waddle around us as forfeit. HAH.
So then after the thing, we went up to bond a little and stuff.
Then it was the Night hike/Walk/Trail/Whatever.
It very really fun, we stayed in Emmanuel hall till quite late, singing stupid songs and cheering madly for each other and irritating the hell out of Kee Long and the Other One. Senath too. Nice man. Hhehehehhe
Why? ‘Cause basically what we did was to wait at the doors there and the moment it opens we go… ME ME ME ME ME MEEE!!!
And I blast the ‘PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAASSSEEEE!!!’ that I’ve been practising with Sheryl. :D
Ann Na says it sounds like a pig going to the abattoir.
It was about 10 plus when we finally got our turn, we sat by the door and then Kee Long opened it and got so blasted with sheer vocal/lung power that he shook his head and said ‘the two groups nearest to the door come out larh...’
He’s the bluff one and the one I remember as ‘The Drain’. Man, am I evil. Kee Long? Kelong? Get it?
Well, to tell the truth, what I learnt at the Night hike was like complete Blind Trust. We were all blindfolded and we completely trusted our leader, who was also blindfolded, to lead us around school at night. It’s amazing how a place which you walk about practically the entire week becomes alien and foreign once everyone switches the lights off.
We weren’t the last group but we had some fun with the lat group… we all gathered at the canteen and uncle Senath told us that one last group was left. And then we saw the last group creeping towards the canteen and he told us to shut up as the group passed. They did and he went up to them and whispered ‘oi oi you’re going to hit your head against something!’ and the leader immediately went down lowly and the whole group followed.
Such is the extent of blind trust.
The next things we had to do were to bathe and then get to sleep as quickly as possible. Bwa haha!
SECOND DAY
I woke up just before 6am. Poked Alicia awake. She mumbled and went back to sleep. I went back to sleep as well until 6.30am. The sad thing about sleeping on the concrete floor is that I try to be in the same position throughout the night and then I get back cramps the next day. Bugger.
Tried to poke Charlene awake.
‘mflfylashhwylly…’
anyway we finally got up and did some morning exercise. It’s weird how creepy the carpark becomes… hahah
Then we had breakfast and this huge bombing fiesta.
‘Eagles bomb, Eagles bomb, Eagles bomb to Seaweed bomb!’
‘Seaweed bomb, Seaweed bomb, Seaweed bomb to Orange bomb!’
Sadly we dint get our name till late late late in the day.
So today was our real active day. We bundled up to the buses to go to Costa sands Resort at Pasir Ris or something and sang Christian songs all the way there. Sat with Yi Xiu and sang the entire 1985 song for her aca-pello. Then attempted Maroon 5’s She will be Loved.
So we reached there and got separated into 2 groups. As in 2 groups in each team. One group did the Rafting first and the other did the High Elements.
We got Rafting. We carried stuff to the beach, freaked out over some yellow and black spiders and ants and banged on the drums a little.
Everyone remarked that I was going to That 70’s look when I did my colour band into some sorta hairbandish look like what people usually did in the 70s. :D
So had fun tying our raft together. We had to build our raft out of some floating drums and 10 PVC pipes. We tried our raft after Group 5 tried theirs…which floated!
GO GROUP 5!!!
Then we saw Group err… I can’t remember… the Eagles I think… who did the same design as us but part of theirs sank when Kee Long pushed the boat into the water.
Oh yeah, Kelvin, in this sense of funnies just for the moment, took a live fish which was floating about in the sea and took a piccy of it.
There were watermelons floating all around us as well. They looked quite fresh. I mean, take away the seaweed and everything and bits of dead stuff… yeah it looks almost edible. :)
Our raft floated as well. I remember this bit were we were on the beach yelling at the people to PADDLE FOR GOD’S SAKE PADDLE! When Yi Zhang who was on the canoe guiding us splashed water at Kee Long who was helping us drag our raft to the sea as beforehand, Kee Long dumped a coconut in the water next to Yi Zhang.
So then we went back and did the High Elements. Which hurt. A lot. Sulk. My hands hurt.
Got stuck at this bit between the metal ladder and the mini rock wall as my hands were like dying there as I tried hopelessly to push myself upwards enough to get it… argh.
My arms have swelled I swear it has. Aaarrgghh.
So then we had lunch and then after lunch was The Great Runabout!
Group Members: Alicia, Althea, Carian, Yi Xiu, Rachel, Ethel, Alyssa, Bao Hui and.. Was there anyone else? I can’t remember.
Anyway this is one of the most memorable events ever of the camp… I think it is so important that I do believe that it reckons another blog post as if I don’t go offline now I will get seriously screwed by my mother. :) so, goodbye then! ^^
To Be Continued…
